How to Get to Dapitan

Last updated: 2009-11-01

To get to Dapitan, one must either fly to the neighboring city of Dipolog, where the airport is located, or sail to the Port of Dapitan (in barangay Pulawan) albeit the destination is sometimes listed in shipping schedules as Dipolog.

This page only provides a general idea of how to get to Dapitan as it would be next to impossible to cover all travel options from different points of origin. The main assumption here is that the traveler starts from Manila or Cebu. For those coming from other departure points, please send us an email and we would gladly suggest available travel options.

By Air

The two principal airlines that fly to Dipolog Airport (IATA: DPL) are Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific.

From MANILA: Philippine Airlines (PAL) has daily flights departing from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Centennial Terminal 2 in Manila while Cebu Pacific has five flights a week departing from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3.

From CEBU: Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific both operate thrice weekly flights departing from the Mactan-Cebu International Airport.

The current flight schedule is provided in the table below. However, given the frequent changes in flight schedules and fares, it is advisable to book directly with the airlines or through your travel agent.

By Sea

The Super Ferry service run by the Aboitiz Transport System used to be the most convenient way to travel by sea from Manila to Dapitan. However, this ferry service to Dapitan has been discontinued. Those who intend to sail to Dapitan from Manila will have to take the Manila-Ozamiz route instead, but be reminded that you then have to make arrangements for your land transfer (around 3 hours) between Ozamiz and Dapitan.

Between Cebu and Dapitan, your best bets are the fast craft services operated by Ocean Jet, which offers a daily service to the Port of Dapitan (Pulawan). You'll have to get up early though as departure from Cebu is at 0600H. If you catch this early morning trip, you'll be in Dapitan by noon.
