Thad and Dang
Thad and Dang (or Hilda) Hamoy are not exactly new to being bed and breakfast hosts. They have always hosted visiting family and friends at their various homes throughout the years, especially during their postings abroad when Thad was still a career diplomat in the Philippine Foreign Service.
While Home Sweet Home is now operating as a bed and breakfast, Thad and Dang made a conscious decision not to run it as a straightforward and impersonal business, but instead imbue it with that cozy atmosphere and comfy ambiance that makes guests feel that they are in their own home. Thad and Dang's very casual and laid back attitude toward their guests further helps ensure that their stay at Home Sweet Home is pleasant, relaxing, and enjoyable.
Thad, being Dapitanon born and bred, is all too eager to finally retire from the Philippine Foreign Service and return to his roots. He is certainly looking forward to showing out of town guests and foreign tourists around his hometown, just as his father Léoncio used to do with his own guests when he was still alive.
Dang, on the other hand, is from Pampanga and brings to Home Sweet Home the natural flair for hospitality that the Kapampangan are known for. While she may trace her roots to the plains of Central Luzon, Dang has spent the greater part of her life in Dapitan, even serving in the local government at various periods as City Planning and Development Coordinator and later as City Administrator. She now speaks Bisaya, the local language, better than most of the younger generation.
Having built the house in 1980 with the intention of running it then as a bed and breakfast, the plan was sidetracked by their unpredictable career projections. Twenty-eight years later, Thad and Dang are finally getting around to doing just that.
And now, they both eagerly anticipate your visit and being your hosts at Home Sweet Home, where they will pamper you like family and make your stay in the Shrine City of Dapitan a most memorable one.
